Working with Lindsay Lohan isn’t for everyone

Lindsay Lohan

After getting a second shot at an acting career thanks to the producers of Liz & Dick, it really wasn’t a surprise to anyone when Lindsay Lohan managed to turn it into one long series of disasters, from on-set diva antics, to the complete alleged destruction of Liz Taylor‘s stuff, to a car crash that could land her in jail because of course it would. Anyway, looking back on the experience, the producers of the movie have gone on the record to say that working with Lindsay was a Sisyphean task before backing down by saying that her acting was perfect. Anyone who has ever seen Herbie: Fully Loaded might disagree with you there. E! Online reports …

“We had serious challenges to deal with due to her probation and her history,” said Thompson. “Therefore we had to make a deal where there were pages and pages of ‘what if’ clauses. There never was a ‘what if she can act’ clause. It was about, ‘What if there is a car accident? What if there is a violation of her probation [and she’s] incarcerated?’ Those ‘what ifs’ were plenty. She might be the most insured actress who ever walked on a soundstage. We tried to insure ourselves against things that could and, in fact, did happen.” When Lohan was involved in a well-publicized car accident last June while filming Liz & Dick, the production was forced to take an insurance day. “I was financially at risk myself,” said the producer, who added that Lohan was apologetic. “It was a challenge.”

You have to love how they were willing to make all these insane gambles and pump this much money into a LIFETIME ORIGINAL MOVIE. As in, this will never be seen in a theatre, or really any TV station outside of Lifetime, the TV channel for panicky white suburban housewives. “No, I may have slowly lost my mind and put myself into massive financial risk, but it was all worth it so that bored mothers in Minnesota could watch LiLo pretend to be ELizabeth Taylor!”
