So if you caught the Golden Globes last night, chances are you could literally feel the overwhelming hatred that every celebrity in the room felt for Ricky Gervais. Why? Because Ricky had the gall (THE GALL I SAY!) to make fun of them to their faces. That bastard?
Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Philip Berk told The Hollywood Reporter that, “He definitely crossed the line. And some of the things were totally unacceptable. But that’s Ricky.”
And he had no idea what was coming.
“I had absolutely no idea what Ricky was going to say so anything I heard was heard was the same time you heard it,” Berk said. “When you hire Ricky Gervais, you expect the unexpected. SOURCE
Alright soap box time: Did Ricky hurt your feelings? Too bad! Honestly, the guy didn’t say anything on stage that a million gossip bloggers haven’t said before, albeit with a different punchline. Ricky wasn’t hired to hold the hands of some of the richest and most famous people in America and tell them how special they are. Hell, they have MILLIONS of people telling them that already. People don’t make fun of celebs to be mean; We make fun of them because talking about ridiculous people doing ridiculous things is funny. And if you don’t get that, then that’s just your problem.
