WOO HOO! Here we are, with a big milestone: It’s the 200th Mashup Of The Week! Of course, for such a momentous occasion, you really get some major bells ‘n whistles!
This week’s mashup literally has something for everybody. It’s a bitchin’ rocker for sure – with elements from Emerson, Lake & Palmer and anchored by the perennially balls-out Welcome To The Jungle from Gun’s ‘N Roses. But as this jam stomps around, we get treated to some electro funkin’ bits from Sinden, LFO, Missy Elliott, Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, 808 State, and Future Sound Of London. Whether you know or recognize all these different reference points won’t matter, because this is such a meticulously produced bootleg from the UK’s The Kleptones. And as in the long tradition of Kleptones’ mashup concept albums, this comes from the new Uptime/Downtime collection, which is a veritable kitchen-sink roundup of vast & eclectic styles, eras, genres, sounds, and plenty of samples. Pip pip and a tip of the hat to England’s best, matey!
