To be honest, when I saw Toy Story 3, I kind of assumed that it would be the final installment. How exactly do you follow up the toys facing down their own mortality in a horrible pit of fire? I mean, they lived, and they got some mini-movies and TV specials since, but that’s a lot to follow up. But the good news is that not only is John Lasseter returning to direct Toy Story 4 (due out in June of 2017), but Rashida Jones and Will McCormack are going to be handling the script. SlashFilm reports …
The toys are back in town one more time. In an announcement we’ve been expecting for a long time, the CEO of Disney Bob Iger has revealed that Pixar will release Toy Story 4 on June 16, 2017. John Lasseter will return to direct “a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the Toy Story gang.”
When reached for comment, vocal Toy Story 3 critic Armond White had this to say:
“They’re making a sequel!” he snarled with a sneer,
“It’s in pre-production! It’s practically here!”
Then he growled, with his Grinch fingers nervously drumming,
“I MUST find some way to stop Toy Story 4 from coming!”
He was last scene speeding towards Disney studios in a sleigh with his put-upon dog sidekick. (I went a long way for this Grinch parody–just humor me here!)
