For those of you who don’t remember, The X-Files was one of the best shows to come out of the 90’s, mostly because it had realistic and sympathetic characters with great chemistry as well as complex storylines that made the supernatural elements seem justified. Then they made a pair of movies a few years back and both of the were just … nyeh. Not great. Well, hopefully the third time will be the charm because David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are teasing another X-Files movie. Via Today …
Star David Duchovny, who played Agent Fox Mulder, said because the groundbreaking sci-fi series offered endless possibilities, “We could do it forever. I always thought when we can come back together, we will. As much as we can.” Gillian Anderson, who portrayed Mulder’s initially skeptical partner Dana Scully, is game as long as their reunion doesn’t happen on the small screen. “A film would be great.” Creator Chris Carter fell just short of confirming a third movie for the beloved franchise, but he said the devotion of Comic-Con’s fans was “very inspirational.”
Well, hopefully the third film picks it up a little after the first two, but I mean either way: It’s more X-Files. You can’t look that gift horse in the mouth, even if that gift horse has some weirdly homophobic undertones.
