Half the fun of rebooting old TV shows and movies from the 80’s is seeing which actors and actresses who aren’t even old enough to reference the source material get cast. Such is the case with the new Jem and the Holograms movie, which is filled with talented young actresses, none of whom were alive when the show was on the air. Aubrey Peeples, best known for a role on TV’s Nashville, will play Jem. Disney star Stefanie Scott is Jem’s sister Kimber, Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) is Shana and Hayley Kiyoko (Lemonade Mouth) is Aja. Jon M. Chu is directing from a script by Ryan Landels.
