You might remember Simon’s debut album, 8-bit Heart, which he offered up as a free download (still available on his website), and was one of last year’s hottest pop releases and now he’s back, stronger (and cuter) than ever! I recently asked Simon to talk a bit about what we can expect from his new album, and here’s what he had to say …
R∆ is a really, really dark electronic album, which is ironic considering how positive and uplifting Superhero is, but even Superhero has a lot of dark elements, sonically, and lyrically, which people really haven’t picked up on yet. I’m somewhat obsessed with symbolism so anyone looking to dig a little deeper will definitely have a field day with R∆. Musically, it is an ode to everything I love about pop music, pure, Swedish, late nineties, early 2000’s pop. I’m always striving to write my own Blackout so I think I always wind up making tunes that sound somewhat Britney-esque- just really dark, borderline evil Britney-esque tunes. – Simon Curtis
