It’s really hard not to know who Adele is at this point, especially since everyone and their dog has already bought her album, 21, and you legally cannot turn on a radio without hearing Rumor Has It. Which totally makes this story about Robert Pattinson mistaking her for a random stranger and telling her to “reach for her dreams” even more hilariously awkward. From GigWise:
The actor spoke of the ‘ridiculous’ incident in a CBC TV interview in America as he was promoting new movie Cosmopolis, and reveals his regret at the comments he made to the singer. Speaking of striving to achieve success, Pattison says: “Actually I had this argument with Adele, which is probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever said. I was saying, “you know, you can really just like reach for it,” and she was like, “you do realize I am like the biggest-selling female artist ever?” And I just for some reason just decided to get into an argument with her. “I woke up regretting everything I said.”
Look, we’ve all been in one of those scenarios where you completely blank on a person’s name. Except that person usually isn’t FREAKING ADELE. Seriously, not only is she one of the biggest names in music, but she only has one name. How hard is it to remember one name? “Oh, yeah, you … ummmmm, it begins with an A, right? Amy? Abby? Amerie? Could you at least tell me if I’m getting warmer or colder here?”
