Hey, remember how the HFPA got their panties in a bunch over Ricky Gervais doing his goddamned job by ripping on everyone who sucked at the Golden Globes, and how they were going to ban him from ever hosting it again? Yeah, about that? They actually invited him back to host next year’s awards.
Gervais wrote, “The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. (But) I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure.” Gervais continued, “I did exactly what I went to do: improve on last year’s and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks. The weird thing is, the question is always, ‘Did Ricky go too far?’ And the answer is always, ‘No.’ I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it.” SOURCE
Man, they were SO close to banning him! I mean man, if Ricky had been barred from hosting the Golden Globes, then never again would celebrities have to suffer the injustice of having one person say to their face what millions have already said behind their backs. I’m assuming next year the awards will be hosted by a robot that hands out hugs, back rubs and blowjobs.
