A couple of weeks ago I heard about the unexpected passing of an acquaintance of mine named Tom Bridegroom. He tragically fell four floors to his death just a mere few weeks after his 29th birthday on May 7th in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles while photographing a friend, a completely freaky and very unfortunate accident. I met Tom last year at one of Simon Curtis‘ shows at The Mint down on Pico, and then we quickly became friends on Twitter. Tom founded the music blog iMusicDaily and also worked in music PR and sent me a couple of pitches on behalf of his clients. The news of his untimely passing took me completely off guard, he had such a sweet spirit and I know he shared my love of animals, he would often post the most adorable pics of himself with his super cute dog Justin Bobby. Today I’m attending a memorial service in his honor, although I didn’t know him all that well personally, I still feel the need to go and pay my last respects. My heart goes out to Shane Bitney Crone, his boyfriend of six years, along with all of Tom’s friends and family. Below is a video of Tom covering Katy Perry‘s song Firework, I think it’s quite appropriate considering how bright he shined and will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. You never know what the future holds, so be sure to appreciate each day, it’s a blessing.
