Anyone who knows me, even in the passing sense, knows that I have zero knowledge of football. None whatsoever. But I do know that Ray Rice is an jerk who was caught beating his (then-fiancee) wife Janay Palmer–which the NFL basically turned a blind eye to because $$$. Anyway, the good news is that after massive public backlash combined with today’s release of a shocking tape showing how the assault went down, Rice has been cut from the Ravens while the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
“The #Ravens have terminated RB Ray Rice’s contract this afternoon,” a tweet on the team’s official page read. Not long after, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello tweeted, “Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice.” The evidence in question was posted by TMZ on Monday morning. It showed Rice punching his now-wife Janay Rice (nee Palmer) in an elevator, and then dragging her body through the open doors. SOURCE
To be honest, I can’t say I feel too bad that a guy who beats his girl lost out on the opportunity to make millions of dollars for throwing around a football. What really worries me is the fact that, up until today, the NFL’s punishment for Rice was a two game suspension. Which, as Seth Rogen pointed out, is less than smoking weed. So in the NFL, you can violently beat a woman you claim to love, but recreational marijuana use? Think of the children, you horrible monster!
