Play Dead

good morning! in preparation for wednesday night’s björk show here in los angeles (she’s playing nokia live) i wanted to feature one of her lesser known tracks play dead which was included on the soundtrack for the 1993 film the young americans starring harvey keitel, thandie newton, & viggo mortensen (which i’ll admit i’ve never seen but the tagline london is not only losing her soul to the americans, she’s selling it is prompting me to check it out!) the track is beautifully haunting & sweeping – and could have also been used as a ‘bond’ song! yes ms. björk is one of music’s most eccentric ladies – yet she’s also one of the most talented & brilliant – i’ve never seen her play live – and having been a fan for years – i can’t believe i’ve waited this long (shame on me!) of course i’ll be doing a post on the show – so stay tuned and for now please enjoy the track below – i’ve also included the video & lyrics! popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!

darling stop confusing me

with your wishful thinking

hopeful embraces

don’t you understand?

i have to go through this

i belong to here where

no-one cares and no-one loves

no light no air to live in

a place called hate

the city of fear

i play dead

it stops the hurting

i play dead

and the hurting stops

it’s sometimes just like sleeping

curling up inside my private tortures

i nestle into pain

hug suffering

caress every ache

i play dead

it stops the hurting
