Last Thursday I had the chance to catch La Roux in between their Coachella shows down at the Fonda Theatre. I’ve been a huge fan ever since they popped onto the scene back in 2009. I remember seeing them play at The Roxy about four years ago (on Easter Sunday), when people barely knew them, at least here in the states. A lot has changed since then, they blew up big time with their smash hit single “Bulletproof,” off the band’s self-titled debut album, La Roux. Frontwoman Elly Jackson and producer Ben Langmaid (and company) are thankfully back and gearing up to release their sophomore effort, rumored to be out this coming September. Along with their hits, including “In For The Kill”, “Quicksand,” and “I’m Not Your Toy,” La Roux played four brand-new songs which were all stellar, especially “Uptight Downtown” (catch the video below). Elly has one of the most unique voices in pop music today, the crowd totally ate up her energetic performance, the band sounded great, it all turned out to be a truly fantastic and fun evening, everyone was dancing their asses off as La Roux totally killed it up on stage. Many thanks to my pal Joey for snapping such incredible pictures … how adorable is Elly?!
