it’s late – i dont think im up for in-depth analysis – but quickly a few thoughts – overall it was OK – just OK – it was terribly violent – i think a tad too much – usually i can cry a river on movies (even oprah sometimes) but i did not shed a single tear – and towards the end – i just wanted to go – its so intense – and loud – and brutal – i kept thinking back to THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST – which i just LOVE – and this was not even close – realistic yes – maybe – no? who can tell – really? i think the acting was good – jim seems a shoo-in for best actor (you know don some makeup play a serial killer, portray christ in mel gibson crucifixtion – get an oscar kinda thing) i really did enjoy the gals who played mom mary and mary magdalene – i know monica belucci was one – im not sure of the other – cinematography was amazing – music haunting – but just slightly overcooked – and you all know im not a person who has a personal investment in religion – so i am really looking at this from a movielovers point – so please no one take offense – the big hoopla seems overblown – as is this movie – will be interesting to see if it gets any oscar nods next year – maybe for acting – i doubt this could contend for best picture – but who knows – i so prefer mel gibson’s beautiful BRAVEHEART (i saw it ONLY after it won best picture – and i was won over – really) SO the point of all this is – if you wanted to see – go ahead and see – but if yr unsure – or have not interest – go on and rent BRAVEHEART if you havent seen that yet…
