It’s been about ten years since Justin Timberlake broke off from *NSYNC (that asterisk is necessary) to pursue a solo career, and since then he’s been pretty keen on distancing himself from the whole boy band thing so that he could become Michael Jackson. Well, now that boy bands are a thing again, it’s time for Justin to brush off his denim suit and reunite with his bandmates for the MTV VMAs, because WE CAN NEVER LET GO OF THE 90’s, DAMMIT. Page Six reports …
Justin Timberlake and his former *NSYNC band members are set to reunite for a special performance on the VMAs Sunday night at the Barclays Center, sources tell Page Six. MTV announced that Timberlake, who topped the charts in the late ’90s with the band, will perform at the VMAs and receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. But we’re told former bandmates J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick are scheduled to join him onstage for a reunion performance. On Friday night, the *NSYNC crew were all spotted in the singer’s VIP section at his concert with Jay Z at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, joining Jessica Biel and Timberlake’s mother, Lynn Harless.
Oh nostalgia … if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t remember everything that was awful about the 90’s as inherently better than it really was. Honestly, if *NSYNC was around today, I probably wouldn’t have given them a second glance, but because they got me right in the childhood when I was young and impressionable, I have a soft spot for them. Well played, marketing teams. Well played.
