I was literally just talking about Canadian singer/songwriter Nelly Furtado last week, mainly about how she seriously needed to put out a new album! I’ve been a huge fan since 2000, when Nelly made her debut on the music scene with Whoa, Nelly!. Her last English studio album was 2006’s Loose which I loved (she did release a Spanish album called Mi Plan back in 2009 along with a greatest hits disc one year later). Well, lo and behold, Ms. Furtado is finally back with plans to release The Spirit Indestructible on June 19th. Yesterday she dropped the first single (produced by Rodney ‘Dark Child’ Jerkins) called Big Hoops (Bigger The Better) (now on iTunes), I’ve been playing it non-stop, have a listen for yourself below via a new lyric video (those seem to be all the rage these days). The track has an amazing bass heavy beat, a bit more on the hip-hop side of things, I’m not quite sure if it will garner a lot radio play yet it’s truly a stellar track – definitely better than most music making the rounds on the airwaves right now.
