Just in case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past weekend, New York finally legalized same-sex marriage which means I have to go find me a New Yorker to get hitched to. But in the meantime, we can all live vicariously through couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, who announced that they’re getting married thanks to the new legislation.
“David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago!” he explained. “We’ve been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date.” Before the New York state senate and Governor Andrew Cuomo legalized gay marriage Friday night, Harris tweeted that he’d “sure love to get married.”
“Please, New York Senate, vote in favor of marriage equality today,” he said. “My family would really appreciate it.” SOURCE
I could point out that these two had to wait five extra years just to get married because a bunch of old white people in a pretty building decided that the most important part of getting married was whether or not your partner’s genitals were on the inside or the outside (“Well, I wasn’t sure at first, but when I saw her vagina? Sold.”) but instead, I’m just going to congratulate NPH and David because YAY – you’re getting married!
