Hey everyone–happy new year! I wanted to drop in and quickly let you all know that PopBytes is currently undergoing a massive overhaul behind the scenes–the main content of the site will be shifting to something I love more than anything–music! There has been tons of music-related content over the years–however after almost twelve years of operation–music is now going to be the primary focus of PopBytes–mixed with dashes of TV, film and theater. Over the past couple months I wasn’t sure if I could continue to maintain the site, although it has been a great run since 2003, I started to feel running PopBytes was becoming more of a chore than anything else–when it was initially fueled by my love of all things pop and gossip and was fun. Unfortunately (I’m sure many of you would agree with this statement) gossip simply isn’t the same anymore for many reasons but it all boils down to video killing the radio star then social media killing gossip.
The golden days of blogging were right around 2007 when Britney Spears shocked everyone by shaving her head and went on the attack with her trusty umbrella-that was some good shit! These days we have a bunch of talentless famewhores running the show … Kim Kardashian is so fucking boring–like really who gives a damn about her–I actually miss Paris Hilton and that says a whole lot. So please check back in, I am hard at work revamping the site–and has renewed my passion and enthusiasm. I really didn’t want to shut the site down–I merely needed to figure out how to change it so we could be fun again and music is (and will always be) the answer.
If you happen to follow me on Instagram you know that 2014 was my vinyl revolution-which helped to spark the idea of how I could realign the site after over a decade–just like Christina Aguilera–I’m heading back to basics–so please stay tuned right here–the site isn’t going anywhere–plus I’ve got some great people on Team PopBytes–we’re all really excited to relaunch the site with a concentration on music. Make sure to follow me on Twitter and please like me on Facebook–my goal is to have everything up and running by mid-February at the latest.
It’s 3AM here in Los Angeles, so I’m going to leave you with the latest music video from Sia for “Elastic Heart” (off one of last year’s best albums–1000 Forms of Fear) featuring Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler slaying once again (this girl who helped rack up over 4 million Youtube views for “Chandelier” is totally destined to be a superstar) along with Shia LaBeouf. Initially I was all what the fuck is he doing in this video–however Shia totally holds his own in the video–and managed to put on a very impressive performance-don’t miss it! Sending lots of love and light to you all, some of you have been reading PopBytes for quite along time–I hope you’ll continue to do so! xoxo
