After the awesomeness a couple days ago where The Roots pretty much called Michele Bachmann on being a crazy lady to her face (THROUGH SONG!) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Michele aka Sarah Palin-lite went on the offensive by saying that The Roots should be fired and that they and everyone at NBC are women haters. Or something. This is what happens when that one aunt who keeps forwarding you Islamophobic chain letters runs for office. From Fox News:
Republican candidate Michele Bachmann addressed the controversy surrounding her appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon this week, saying if what happened to her had happened to the First Lady, heads would have rolled. When Bachmann was introduced on the Fallon’s show Monday, Fallon’s house band, the Roots, played Fishbone’s song Lyin’ Ass Bitch. Fallon has since apologized, and while Bachmann said she accepts the comedian’s apology, she thinks NBC should apologize as well.
“If that had been Michelle Obama, who’d come out on the stage, and if that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her and likely they would have fired the drummer, or at least suspended him,” she told Fox News. “This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite,” she said, adding the incident smacked of sexism as well.
Until you realize that they didn’t really call her a bitch. Is it wrong to call a woman a bitch just because she’s a strong woman? Yes. But that’s not why they played the song. I think the problem most people have with Michelle Bachmann is that she lies about HPV vaccines turning your kids autistic, gayness being something cured by prayer, and death panels murdering your grandmother.
