M.I.A. is about to drop a “Bad Girls” remix EP on July 24th. Here at PopBytes we got a chance to listen to these new takes on her infectious track and we must say we approve!
M.I.A. “Bad Girls (Switch Remix)” (Feat. Missy Elliott & Rye Rye)
This Switch remix was crafted to spotlight the rap verses of Missy Elliott and Rye Rye. Here, Missy is back reminding us that she can spit a verse better than most of the female rappers out now. Her voice is distinctive and pushes this track into excellence. Rye Rye, who has been around since 2007, opening up for M.I.A on her “Kala” tour, is the first artist M.I.A signed to her N.E.E.T. label. It may seem like a difficult feat but on this remix, Rye Rye holds her own next to Missy’s verses.
M.I.A. “Bad Girls (N.A.R.S. Remix)” (Feat. Missy Elliott & Azealia Banks)
On this remix Missy Elliott slows down her rap to flow with the Eastern snyth feel of the original Danja-produced track. Again, Missy shares the track with another up and coming female rapper. This time around it’s Azealia Banks. Azealia seems like a better fit with Missy. Both rappers share a similar deep rhyming drawl. If M.I.A is rounding up all of the “bad girls” for this anthemic pop song, it only makes sense to recruit Azealia.
M.I.A. “Bad Girls (Leo Justi Remix)”
The Brazilian DJ Leo Justi decided to feature no one on his remix and allow the track to stand on its own. He takes the reigns and steers the song into a Bollywood dance party.
The “Bad Girls” remix EP will be released on 7/24 on N.E.E.T. via your favorite digital retailer.
