The Elton John / Madonna feud has been raging for something like eight months now, which is crazy because by the eighth month, someone should have had a glass of wine thrown in their face by now. It’s just science people. SCIENCE! Anyway, Madonna went out on stage last night and claimed to forgive Elton, although we’re going to get into how that might be total crap in a minute. But first, the blockquote from HuffPo …
Madonna might be ready to bury the hatchet with Elton John. While performing in Nice, France, the Queen of Pop announced that she forgives John and even dedicated a song to him. But was the move sincere or sassy? Madonna decided to forgive John for the snarky comments he has made about her. Before her Super Bowl performance, the “Rocket Man” pianist bid Madonna good luck by saying, “Make sure you lip-sync good.” Then, during an interview with Australian TV, John said Madonna looks like “a (effing) fairground stripper” and said her career is over. After she publicly forgave John, she dedicated her song “Masterpiece” to him.
So there are two ways to read this as Madonna stoking the fire for attention. The first is that “Masterpiece” was the song Madge beat out Elton with at the Golden Globes, so right off the bat you can totally see how that can be seen as M throwing beaucoup shade at Elton. Second, she’s Madonna. Saying things for attention is kind of her thing.
