hey boys & girls! i’ve been meaning to point your music attention to m.i.a. (join her on myspace) this past tuesday (actually it was yesterday aug 21st) marked the release of her second album kala and it has been in my ipod & stereo on heavy rotation- it’s a really incredible album! (along w/ her debut album arular) i’m not very good at describing music yet it’s got a heavy world music vibe but it’s infused with plenty of rap, pop, hip-hop, dance, & reggae – i simply can’t say enough about it – it’s so much fun & upbeat! (keep in mind nobody pitched me on this album…)
i’ve been dancing my ass off to her hot single jimmy (the video is posted below – it’s a cover of a song titled ‘jimmy jimmy aaja’ which was featured in an ’82 bollywood movie) i’ve also posted the video for another track off the album called boyz – i think you guys will love it like i do! she’s a totally cool person who has led quite an interesting life – you should read more about her over on wikipedia (one of my favorite reference sites!) and make sure to pick up your copy of kala – ms. m.i.a. does not disappoint (unlike the leaked brand new madonna single the beat goes on – i’m not feeling it at all…and her lyrics ‘always the bridesmaid – never the bride’ are driving me up the wall – ugh!) popbytes over & out for now….xxoo!
