It’s certainly no secret that I am a HUGE fan of the Indigo Girls (I actually discovered them around the same time as Tori Amos!) and my gals Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are back with their fourteenth studio album, Beauty Queen Sister (out on October 4th). The great news is the duo has reunited with producer Peter Collins who helped them craft two of my favorite albums, Rites of Passage and Swamp Ophelia. I’ve seen them over twenty times in concert (I have a great story about a fight I got into at one of their shows in Mesa, AZ), I hope they swing by Los Angeles sooner rather than later, they’re simply incredible live. Check out the lyric music video for Making Promises, the album’s first single below! I had the chance to interview them a few years ago, if you’re interested you can read it here, I can’t say enough about their abilities as musicians / songwriters and how well they work together, it’s true musical magic!
Grammy-winning folk-rock duo Indigo Girls will release their fourteenth studio album, Beauty Queen Sister, October 4, 2011. The new album is a stunning 13-song collection featuring the signature storytelling that fans have grown to love, touching on modern-world worries and romanticizing the simplicity of days gone by. Recorded in Nashville, the duo reunited with producer Peter Collins, with whom the Indigo Girls worked on 1992’s Rites of Passage and 1994’s Swamp Ophelia. Beauty Queen Sister will be the fourth album released on their own IG Recordings/ Vanguard Records.
