Lea Michele issues a statement

Cory Monteith and Lea Michele

I’m still in a state of shock over the sudden passing of Glee star Cory Monteith this past weekend at age 31. I’ve been such a big fan of the show from the very start, and this just kills me, it’s so sad. It has also been announced by the Vancouver coroner that Cory passed away from a deadly combination of heroin and alcohol, so I guess his demons did get him in the end. It’s very tragic all around, especially for the girlfriend he left behind, his co-star Lea Michele (who I simply adore). She issued a statement exclusively to People magazine via her rep which you can read below. I can’t imagine what she’s going through right now, everything seemed to be going great for the couple, and then this happens. I am definitely keeping Lea along with Cory’s family and friends in my thoughts and prayers.

Lea Michele issued a statement via her reps Tuesday after the coroner announced her boyfriend Cory Monteith died of a mixture of heroin and alcohol. “Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them,” reads the statement, obtained by People exclusively. “They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”
