So I’m not sure you heard this, but there’s a proposed initiative in California right now that, if passed, would raise taxes on those who make over a million bucks a year in order to help fund public schools. Because, and I know this must come as a shock, but it’s probably a bit more important that little kids learn how to read than it is for the rich to have a few extra thousand dollars. In case you’re wondering who they’re really targeting here, they’re using Kim Kardashian as their talking point. Access Hollywood reports:
The Courage Campaign’s online video (posted below) says Kardashian made $12 million in 2010 but paid just 1% point more in California income taxes than someone making $47,000. The video urges Kardashian to support the tax increase, saying “we all need to pay our fair share.” The Courage Campaign and California Federation of Teachers are backing a proposed initiative that would raise tax rates for those who make more than $1 million annually to help fund schools and other programs.
BRILLIANT! We can call it “The Famewhore Tax”! Basically, if you are a California resident and you earn millions of dollars per year despite not actually doing anything whatsoever, then we are allowed to tax you more so that we can teach kids how to read and write so that they don’t grow up to be useless whores like you! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!
