So it turns out, taking a picture of your election ballot and posting it on Twitter is kinda sorta … illegal. I know, who knew? It’s not like the founding fathers could have ever fathomed that some day in the future, vapid people would share pictures of their monotony at the speed of light. Anyway, the Examiner reports that Kim Kardashian may or may not have posted a picture of some of her election material to Twitter, and could face jail time for it. Oh please, PLEASE let this happen.
According to the report, Kim Kardashian has been spending some time in New York City during the election period and it sounds like Kim decided to share some pictures of her election materials. The report reveals that Kim’s tweet of her election materials classifies as a misdemeanor in New York, as people are not allowed to share any memorandum of “voting process in the booth, which includes anything that reveals who the person voted for.” Apparently, this is exactly what Kim Kardashian shared on Twitter.
So, now Kim Kardashian has broken the law, and she could be charged with a misdemeanor. Although Kim tweeted the picture when she was in New York, she is a resident of California, which is where she is a registered voter. In California, it is illegal to capture or reveal an image of the completed ballot. However, Kim didn’t make any markings on her ballot, so it sounds like she isn’t going to jail.
This might be that “moment of realization” where Kim figures out that just because something happens to her, doesn’t mean it’s important or that she should put it on the internet. Unless her sole reason for doing so is to give people like me ammunition to make fun of her and her big dumb fake show, in which case go right ahead, Kim. You are single-handedly paying my half of the rent.
