Katy Perry and John Mayer were on Ellen DeGeneres‘ show today, where they talked about their new music video together and yadda yadda yadda. It was all very sweet, but let’s jump to the fun part: At one point, Ellen asked if this was their version of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s “Bound 2,” and Katy wasted no time in pouring a bucket of shade on top of that green screen shart of a video.
“Was it your response to Kim and Kanye’s “Bound 2?”” host Ellen DeGeneres asked of Perry and Mayer’s video. “Yes. I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction, though … ” Perry joked. In “Bound 2,” Kardashian goes topless and straddles West while riding on a motorcycle. “She was facing backwards, right? So her hair should have been [blowing the other direction],” DeGeneres agreed. It’s almost unfair to compare any other music video to “Bound 2,” just because it was such a gawd awful mess. It’s like that one kid in class who sits in the corner, eating paste and declaring himself Walt Disney Yeezus; comparatively, everyone else just looks like a genius. It just falls so outside of the learning curve that it bumps everything around it up.
