Since it’s Halloween today, it got me thinking about some of my favorite scary movies, and of course 1976’s Burnt Offerings came to mind, starring the late Karen Black (plus Oliver Reed and Bette Davis in a bit part). If you haven’t seen it, you seriously must, it’s so damn creepy and I swear that the seventies was the best decade for horror films! A few years ago Karen did an ad for PETA against the use of fur for fashion, and now they’ve resurrected the ad just a few months after her death with the permission of her widow, Stephen Eckelberry. PETA’s VP Dan Mathews, who worked with Karen on the original campaign, says, “Karen’s respect for animals was unstoppable in life, and we’re thrilled to see that part of her legacy flourish after her death.” Karen was such an incredible actress, I was a huge fan of hers, I pray that she’s at peace, she is definitely missed.
