Justin Bieber will be hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’

For those of you worried that Justin Bieber‘s recent “possibly caught smoking weed scandal” will somehow impact his career, don’t worry … he just announced that he’s going to be hosting Saturday Night Live, so in all likelihood, the kid will be just fine. Via HuffPo:

Justin Bieber will host Saturday Night Live on February 9, Billboard cites a source close to SNL as confirming. The 18-year-old Canadian pop singer will also act as the musical guest on the episode, according to the source. The episode will mark the first time Bieber has hosted the sketch comedy show. He appeared as the show’s musical guest in 2010, and after ultimately untrue rumors that he would host the show last season, he made a cameo in the 100th Digital Short.

Look, we’ve been uncharacteristically supportive of Justin through all this marijuana hoopla, so I think I earned the right to throw some shade his way right now: If Justin’s acting on CSI and overall lack of comedic experience is any indication, this is probably going to suck pretty hard. Granted, I could be wrong, as most SNL episodes really more on the strength of the writers than the ability of the performer (although in all fairness, perennial favorites like Jon Hamm, Anne Hathaway and Justin Timberlake are pretty consistently great) but I somehow doubt Justin’s lack of comedy chops is really going to help his chances.
