As I’ve mentioned a couple times before, I love Christmas. To a sorta unnatural degree, yes, but everyone needs a favorite holiday. And an integral part of Christmas are the carols, which aren’t exactly hard to memorize because these things were written for eight-year-olds to scream at their parents during school recitals. But of course, that didn’t stop Justin Bieber from forgetting the lyrics to Santa Claus is Coming to Town! No, really, how does that happen? Aceshowbiz reports:
Justin Bieber had a minor mishap when performing on Today show on Wednesday morning, November 23. Wearing blue denims and a festive-themed jacket, the Fa La La singer flubbed his lyrics when delivering his rendition of holiday classic Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. Accompanied by a live band and four male backing dancers, Bieber sang the first part smoothly, but opened the second part with the wrong lyrics. Instead of singing “he sees you when you’re sleeping” like it’s supposed to be, he repeated “making list” line and later trailed off when singing the correct lyrics.
I should probably warn you, everything I’m about to say comes as a Christmas purist: how do you forget the lyrics to Santa Claus is Coming to Town? You do realize that every show that has ever aired a Christmas special has made the lame “He’s making his list and checking it twice” joke, like, thirteen times at this point, right? And it’s not like he wrote in different lyrics or anything. His major artistic contribution to the song as adding in the word “Shorty” (Oh, I’m sorry, make that “SHAWTAY”) a bunch of times. I’m sorry, but if you don’t want me to make fun of Justin, the least he can do is not make it this easy.
