If you haven’t been cluing in for the past few weeks, there’s been a bit of a stir over Jennifer Lopez‘s boy toy / boyfriend / boywhatever Casper Smart sexting a model behind her back. And yes, there’s been some build up over the fact that she was a trans model, but that’s neither here nor there. It’s the betrayal of trust more than it is anything else. Anyway, now La Lopez is telling everyone that not only are they done, but they’ve actually been done for a few weeks now. Us Weekly reports …
“It has actually been an amicable process that started a few months ago,” the J.Lo insider says. “It wasn’t an easy decision, but they decided to stay friends…Their relationship couldn’t work with the distance. He started trying to establish his own life and career, and she is so focused on hers, and they just couldn’t be all about each other anymore.” The source adds that Lopez is “doing fine.” It helps, the insider says, that “she’s so focused on promoting the album. They are both in a good place now.”
Honestly? Most of the web seems to believe this is just a cover up, but I’m kind of undecided. On one hand, it would sate her ego to let everyone know that her boy never actually cheated on her, and they were spotted out and about a little while back. On the other hand, it would give them both an out: there was never any cheating! All is good! Everything’s fine! I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt here. If this is how they want to end their relationship, then whatever. At least they didn’t call it “conscious uncoupling.”
