UPDATE: Gwyneth’s rep issued this statement: It’s completely false. Jeff is a longtime friend of Gwyneth’s and there was no romantic relationship with him at all, He flew many of his friends to Miami that weekend – not just Gwyneth.
So yesterday, we posted about how Vanity Fair was going after Gwyneth Paltrow after she tried to c*ck-block their exposé, which is exactly the kind of thing you don’t do if you want a story to go away. Whoops. Oh well. Anyway, now according to Page Six, the magazine might be focusing on an alleged affair Gwyneth had with billionaire hotel-owner Jeff Soffer (husband to Elle Macpherson) in 2008.
One said, “Vanity Fair is asking if Gwyneth had an affair with Jeff back in 2008 when he reopened the Fontainebleau. He flew her in for the party, and she stayed at his house.” Paltrow has been married to Coldplay rocker Chris Martin since 2003. They have two kids, Moses and Apple.
Paltrow — who wore a revealing little white dress to the resort’s reopening — sparked speculation about her relationship with Soffer after she attended a Victoria’s Secret party there and “remained closed off in a private section with Soffer,” The Post reported at the time.
Soffer reportedly gave Paltrow a private tour of the hotel, whisking her away in his Bentley, and the following day, she joined him on his yacht with Kate Hudson.
Now, in all fairness: billionaire. Jeff Soffer is a billionaire. If someone came up and asked, “Would you rather sleep with this handsome billionaire of the guy who sang “Yellow?” I’m just saying, it’s a pretty clear choice. Sure, Gwyneth is married, and for all we know they’re probably in a strictly monogamous relationship (or not), but once again: Handsome billionaire or Coldplay? Sometimes, sh!t isn’t so black and white like that.
