Glee is a show that features cute teenagers singing top forty songs. Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe” is a top forty song. But apparently, the fact that Gleeis covering the hit song is somehow a surprise or something, because why would they cover a hit song, toss it up on iTunes and make a ton of money? That would just be cuh-ray-zay, amirite? Entertainment Weekly reports …
The song of the summer, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” will have yet another cover come September 13th: EW has exclusively learned that Glee‘s New Directions will be tackling the hit tune in the season four premiere. The episode, fittingly called “The New Rachel,” will find the series characters dealing with the aftermath of graduation.
Actually, this confirms another sneaking suspicion that I had: Glee‘s fourth season would still feature Rachel Berry (Lea Michele). Actually, part of me really wishes this became a sort of cross-over / spin-off show, sort of the way Angel branched off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Specifically, that the two shows would continue to exist side-by-side in the same universe, occasionally crossing over into each other. Also, that one episode would feature Rachel being turned into a puppet while Tina killed evil Nathan Fillion by hitting him in the balls with a sacred axe. Please make my show happen.
