New music Tuesday is upon us again and today one of my favorite musicians is branching out on her own! Natalie Maines of Dixie Chicks fame is releasing her solo debut album, Mother (iTunes) via Columbia Records. I’ve always loved Natalie’s voice and her independent spirit, she’s one girl who doesn’t take crap from anyone and stands up for what she believes in. Although I would love new material from the Chicks (their last release was 2006’s Taking The Long Way), this album is super well done (produced with Ben Harper), it’s more rock than country and includes original music plus covers such as the title track first made famous by Pink Floyd.
