† FROM DJ PAUL V.
This week, the sounds of late 70’s disco gets captured with early 80’s new romantic new wave. Probably one of the most underrated bass players is Bernard Edwards, from those party animals in Chic. I would reckon he influenced Duran Duran bassist John Taylor too, and here, DJ Magnet shows how Edwards’ chunky bottom (along with Nile Rogers‘ famous plucky guitar line) throbs perfectly inside DD’s tale of celluloid hotties working the lens. It all seems to make historical sense too, as Freak Out was written about the crazy heyday of Studio 54, where we could imagine the boys in Duran Duran feeling right at home. (Here’s the video proof!)
