Happy Friday Popbyters! Sadly this week’s column kicks off with some rather heartbreaking news for hardcore Guidos and Guidettes. Ed Hardy has gone into voluntary administration … in Australia at least. Australian equivalents of Snooki and Pauly D are sure to be gutted. Could this follow in the US and UK though? Wearing the brand HAS been banned in some of the hottest clubs this side of the world … I guess time will only tell. On a somewhat higher note, we got to see the latest promo images and video from Beyoncé for House of Deréon and she looks HOT. A little Rihanna-inspiration looks good on Honey B.
Another highlight from this week was Popbytes and mediacation favourite Marc Jacobs‘ interview with the one and only Calvin Klein in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar where he tells us how hard it was for him to keep his clothes on back in the day and yes he did strip off once again for the editorial, just like he did for the recent and very sexy BANG ad campaign. In the words of Marc, “A guy looks better to me with no clothes on than with clothes”, when it comes to you Marc, we agree.
On the topic of fashion ads, have you seen the Fall Winter 2010-11 Accessories campaign from Vivienne Westwood featuring Ms. Westwood herself? She teamed up with Juergen Teller, the photographer that shot Marc in the nude for BANG. When designers such as Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood star in their own campaigns, it has that great full circle effect epitomising when fashion becomes celebrity becomes fashion. To wrap things up, here’s one for all the True Blood fans out there – Evan Rachel Wood and Chris Evans in the new campaign for Gucci‘s latest fragrance, Guilty. Wow. Until next week!
