Now that it’s December, it’s time to look back on the year that was, and immediately try to forget about it because hoo boy, what a shithole that was. Anyway, one of the ways we look back is to measure a persons worth by how many times people have typed their names into a search engine, and SURPRISE! Justin Bieber won. Who would have thought that millions of little girls would be able to type his name into a box on the web? LA Times reports:
Kardashian was the queen of search last year, but the combination of Bieber’s My World 2.0 Tour, hit concert movie Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Saturday Night Live hosting job, Christmas album, romance with Selena Gomez and the little matter of the now-pulled paternity suit over Mariah Yeater’s baby were enough to push him to the top spot. Meanwhile, Kardashian launched a new reality show, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, got married and got divorced. It was quite a lot, but not enough to stop Bieber fever. Several notable names dropped out of the top 10 this year, including Sandra Bullock and Jesse James. But President Obama may have fallen the furthest. In 2010, was the No. 5 most-searched person. In 2011, he was No. 49.
Christ, I bet this just eats Kim Kardashian up, doesn’t it? I’m not being facetious here either. I bet it literally drives Kim to tears that she wasn’t the most searched celebrity of the year. “Why won’t anyone pay attention to me?” she probably wails as she pours herself another glass of d-list rapper pee. Kim’s an emotional drinker like that.
