So the other night I went to see Eve at The Roxy, and I’m so glad I did. I wasn’t really quite sure what to expect, but Eve totally blew me away with her super tight show, I thought she was fantastic! She looked amazing and those rhymes rolled off her tongue so effortlessly, I was thoroughly impressed. It’s because of ladies like Eve (and Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Trina, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah) that the road became paved for female MC rappers to allow acts such as Nicki Minaj, Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea to be around today! I’ve been of fan of Eve since 1999 when she was introduced as the Ruff Ryders’ first lady with her debut album Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady. Since then girlfriend dropped three more albums, her latest being Lip Lock, released in May, her first album in eleven years! Eve played a balanced mix of old and new material, and even did “Rich Girl” (the hit 2004 Gwen Stefani track she guested on) along with “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” and of course “Tambourine” which capped off a sweaty, dance-filled evening. I tossed together some clips I managed to shoot since I was up front, watch the video below and definitely check out Eve’s hot new album, available on iTunes!
