Ever seen NBC‘s Monday night show The Playboy Club? Me neither. Because the show was awful. Seriously, I watched the pilot and was just like “ugh, seriously? This crap? No.” Anyway, millions upon millions of people thought the exact same thing because Eddie Cibrian‘s show is the first new show of the fall season to get the axe, probably because you can’t name a show The Playboy Club and not show boobs. That’s not cool. Via The Hollywood Reporter:
The Playboy Club‘s cancellation comes after the drama premiered Sept. 20th to underwhelming ratings, attracting 5 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic. The second episode of the series from showrunner Chad Hodge and 20th Century Fox Television, tumbled 19 percent, luring only 3.8 million viewers and a 1.3 in the demo. Its most recent episode dropped even more, attracting 3.2 million viewers and a 1.2.
Part of me wanted the show to succeed, because I do like Amber Heard and Sean Maher, and because it pissed off the Parents Television Council (who are just the absolute worst people ever), but on the other hand, the show was fucking terrible, Eddie was basically just a douchey, skeleton-banging Jon Hamm, and no one wants to see a warmed over budget version of Mad Men. So long, Playboy Club!
