I wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to catch Stephen Sondheim‘s classic 1971 musical
Follies (with a book by James Goldman), now in its final days down at the Ahamanson Theatre. I had the chance to see it a few weeks ago, it was everything I hoped it would be, it was excellent. I’m a huge fan of Sondheim’s work, and this truly is one of his masterpieces, probably his best musical (besides Company or Sunday in the Park with George). This John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts production recently received eight Tony Award nominations for its critically-acclaimed Broadway run, including Best Revival of a Musical! It’s no wonder why, the entire production is absolutely stellar, the actors were incredible (including the legendary Elaine Paige), I was on my feet multiple times during the show, if you’re a huge musical theater buff like myself, you seriously don’t want to miss Follies before it closes on June 9th!
