Last week was the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, which Taylor Swift performed at because … well, the year before her was Justin Bieber. They needed to redeem themselves for that somehow. Anyway, after the fact, VS model Jessica Hart sounded off on Taylor’s inclusion in the show, saying that while she liked her, she wasn’t sure if Taylor fit in. Fast forward to today, where VS is going into damage control by saying that the whole thing was a big misunderstanding. Us Weekly reports …
On Nov. 13, Hart was asked by WWD at the fashion show’s after-party whether Swift could pull off being a Victoria’s Secret model. “God bless her heart. I think she’s great,” said Hart. “But I don’t know, to me, she didn’t fit.” Today, Razek has come forward to clarify Hart’s comments. “I have personally been in contact with Jessica Hart and she said she was ‘wildly misinterpreted’ and that she thought Taylor was ‘amazing,'” Razek tells Us. “She is stunned that anyone would think differently. And that’s something we can all agree on.” Razek continues, “I can tell you that everyone at Victoria’s Secret was blown away by Taylor’s performance. She could not be more beautiful or talented, that we felt extremely lucky to have her, and that she is welcome back to do the show anytime she wants.”
So lesson learned here: If you work with someone else in a big way, it’s generally just good manners and basic professionalism to not badmouth them, no matter how innocuous you think your comment is. Just don’t. Really. No offense, but chances are Taylor outranks you, so maybe just stick to the positive, m’kay?
