Damien from ‘Mean Girls’ comes out, talks the canceled reunion

So right now, TooFab is running a story about Daniel Franzese (Damien in Mean Girls) talking about having to hide his sexuality after playing a gay teen. Actually, you should check out his RuPaul Drives segment, because you can kinda see him talk about what he’s up to now, and he’s just so cute and bearish. Anyway, here’s Daniel coming out …

“I’m happy to be free and honest with myself and my fans,” he tells TooFab of his decision to come out now, 10 years later. “It feels like a backpack full of bricks has been lifted off of me. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming and I urge anyone else in the industry who is contemplating doing this, to do it. It feels great.”

And on the subject of the reunion, turns out that’s canceled because of scheduling issues.

Though the cast and crew were planning to get together for a big 10 year anniversary screening in New York next month — something Lindsay Lohan and Tina Fey both hinted at in the past — Daniel tells us it’s been canceled. Scheduling conflicts with the cast made it too difficult to pull off.

So yeah, a bit of a good news / bad news thing. Either way, good for him for coming out. Damien was the best part of the whole movie. Seriously, look me in the eyes and tell me that “SHE DOESN’T EVEN GO HERE!” wasn’t the best single-line reading in the movie, and I will pull out a mirror and show you a filthy liar.
