Chris Brown: Cleared of assault; charged w/ hit & run!

Chris Brown

Chris Brown

Yesterday, we reported on Chris Brown being accused of assaulting a woman at a club. We decided to play both sides of the field on this one: On one hand, it’s Chris Brown, but on the other hand, it would have been just too easy. The truth is that it really was too easy, as Chris has been cleared of the assault accusation. Turns out, the woman in question was just a crazy fan who reportedly faked her knee injury, according to TMZ

As we reported, Gines claims Chris Brown shoved her to the ground inside the club, tearing the ligaments in her right knee. But the video appears to contradict her story … because you see Gines putting weight on her right leg and limping on her left. Sources at the club tell us, Gines did actually injure herself … but it was her own fault, drunkenly stumbling down some stairs on the way out of the club. As we reported, the club’s owner (as well as several eyewitnesses) claim Chris never touched Gines.

Team Breezy keeps it classy like that apparently. We should have seen this one coming, since the only time Chris hits a woman is when it involves a car. Speaking of, remember that woman that was allegedly involved in a hit and run with him? Well, she took action and now Chris is being charged with the hit and run

The City Attorney has charged Chris with hit-and-run — for leaving the scene without exchanging proper information. He’s also been charged with the crime of driving without a valid license. The crimes are punishable by a maximum of 6 months in jail for each offense. We’ve also learned the City Attorney will refer the matter to the L.A. County D.A. for a possible probation violation in the Rihanna beating case. Worst case scenario — if the judge in that case concludes Chris broke the law and thereby violated his probation, he could be sentenced to prison for 4 years.

Oh, why can’t I just focus on the music?
