Star of the big and small screen, Blake Lively won the coveted CinemaCon Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award. Though the honor is usually reserved for those exclusively in the film industry, they made the surprising choice of Lively, better known for her pivotal role as Serena on the CW’s Gossip Girl. The Chanel muse has done her fair share of film work though, appearing in several indie films in the past few years including New York, I Love You (next in the series of Cities of Love films after the amazing Paris, Je T’aime) and The Secret Lives of Pippa Lee as well as blockbusters like The Town and the soon to be released Green Lantern. Lively got her start in films too, her role in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants effectively put her on the map, and her career has since sky rocketed. With the Gossip Girl franchise going strong, Green Lantern promises to be a huge summer box office smash, and her Chanel ads placing her in the creme de la creme of the celebrity fashion endorsement set, this promises to be a huge year for Ms. Lively.
