Amy Winehouse: In Memory Of Her Music

Amy Winehouse

I’m still quite torn up about the passing of Amy Winehouse yesterday. All of her demons, addictions and messy drama aside, the main thing that turned me onto Amy was first and foremost her music. That is why I ended up with over seventy posts about her, of course we chronicled her crazy times but the one thing I always swore by was her incredible voice and retro style, instantly I made an emotional connection to Amy’s music that will last me a lifetime. Her sound heralded a return of bluesy 1960s soul music style infused with modern R&B production, that paved the way for female artists such as Duffy and Adele, who is currently topping the charts! Below are a number of Amy’s music videos from both Frank (2003) and Back To Black (2006), I hope in the end Amy is remembered best for her music rather than her intensely personal struggles with addiction and depression that sadly led her on a path to an untimely death.
