Amanda Palmer killed it at The Roxy

Amanda Palmer

About two weeks ago (July 18th) I attended my first Amanda Palmer (she appeared on the music scene back in 2001 as part of The Dresden Dolls) show (completely sold out) at The Roxy, my favorite small venue on the Sunset Strip. I didn’t know quite what to expect since to be perfectly honest I wasn’t all that familiar with Amanda, yet I knew her punk cabaret style of music was right up my alley, so I had to find out what all the buzz was about, besides there’s no better way to get acquainted with an artist than a live performance. The show turned out to be brilliant, she was supported her new band The Grand Theft Orchestra, playing a mix of old and new tracks (from her upcoming album Theatre Is Evil due out on September 11th, funded via Kickstarter) her stage presence was seriously intense and riveting, I instantly became a fan of her kooky yet charismatic vibe and picked up her 2008 solo debut album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, as soon as I got home. Pictures and video from the show are posted below, many thanks to my pal Joey for snapping such great shots!

PS The official music video for “Want It Back,” at the very bottom is amazing but not safe for work.
