good morning! next week (sept 25th) marks the release of producer extraordinaire will.i.am‘s third solo album songs about girls – i’m sure you know him from his awesome work with black eyed peas – and hopefully he’ll have the same success his fellow bandmate fergie had with her album the dutchess! the first single i got it from my mama has been making the rounds – and at first i wasn’t so crazy about it but i’m finding it to be fairly catchy and i can’t help but sing along when it comes on the radio! to celebrate the upcoming release i’ve got three copies of his album to toss out – all you have to do is answer this question: which deceased rapper’s record label was will.i.am. first signed to? name the rapper & the label – send your answers over to mk@popbytes.com! the first three popbytes readers to answer correctly will win – i’ll update this post with the winners once i have ‘em! and please enjoy the stream & video below of i got it from my mama – popbytes over & out for now…xxoo!

    never been one who was much for will.I.am or black eyed peas but within the last year and a half some of his production work has caught my ear on a few hip hop artists records that i was surprised to be hearing were collaborating with him. Cynicallly i got my hands on his album the other nite and i can honestly say im pleasantly surprised. Its a pretty fresh listen. I think he went the easy route with going with ‘ Get it from her mama’ as the opening single. Sounds too similar to black eyed peas, when i think this material distinguishes him from his pop band memebers yet simultaneously remains popish but yet a cool album. Ill be bumping this for some time to come. Kudos to him….
