whitney didn’t know her own strength

good morning! last week the very first single off whitney houston‘s highly-anticipated comeback album i look to you (releasing september 1st) leaked onto the web – now as much as i love ms. houston i’m finding myself in the middle of the road when it comes to her new song i didn’t know my own strength (have listen below) it’s fairly decent but i was expecting something really splashy … rather than a ‘i was fucked up but now i’m better’ ballad! although she sounds great – something is missing – her vocals are not what they used to be but i guess that’s to be expected after all the damage she did to her voice – thank heavens she’s finally left all that drama – and bobby brown behind – oh hell to the yes! i’m hoping there will be some hot remixes of this song made available – i do think it could make a great dance track! popbytes over & out for now … xoxo

I think you are being a little too harsh on this song. I’ve listened to this song almost 20 times already and it makes me cry everytime. When you have been through a lot, you tend to be simple with your words but heartfelt in your emotions; which is what I’m getting from Whitney. The song is fitting because she was a superstar who buckled under social/media/Bobby pressure and didn’t rely on her strength as a superstar to beat those demons. Experience is what make some of the best songs. I didn’t expect anything else from Whitney but to speak about her downfall without in your face with what happened. I absolutely love this song and it motivates me to understand my own strength and let that guide me though life.
    Thanks for posting this.

I loves me some Whitney, but this song is a snore. I don’t see it as a #1 comeback anthem. I hope she has a good follow-up!
