New Showrunners: We won’t ruin ‘Community’

Community

Back when Dan Harmon was ousted as the showrunner of Community, then subsequently replaced with Moses Port and David Guarascio, fans worried that the show they knew and loved was essentially over and the entire structure of the show would be upended. Except it turns out Port and Guarascio are not only partially responsible for the sleeper hit Happy Endings, but they’re huge Community fans themselves, and have promised not to ruin the show. Via Hitfix:

Schneider: “Moses and David, it’s going to be okay, right?” Guarascio: “A couple of months ago, we were a lot like you: just huge fans of the show who thought it was one of the most special things on television. Suddenly we’re here, helping to keep it going. The only thing we care about is keeping it this weird, wonderful gem that it’s always been. That’s not gonna change.”

And for the record, that’s a statement they made at Comic-Con. COMIC-CON. That’s the biggest gathering of nerds, geeks, and other assorted varieties of virgins in North America. You can’t just make a promise their and not follow through on it. I think it’s safe to say that even though our beloved Dan is no longer here with us, Community is still in good hands. All we have to do is earn another two seasons and a movie and the prophecy will be fulfilled.
