Trailer: Disney’s (live-action) ‘Cinderella’

Cinderella

You have to give Disney credit where credit is due: They have a great understanding of their own image, and a keen awareness of how … dated, shall we say, some of their earlier fare was. I mean yes, the Disney princess films are classics, but they’re still very much aware of how much times have changed, and they’re doing a lot to try and rework their formula to create better female characters. (Frozen in particular did this well, though you can’t rule out others like Mulan or Maleficent.) For their latest movie, they’re reworking Cinderella as a live-action movie (opening March 13th, 2015), and while I’m certain that they’ll do right by the titular princess, the visuals are what really grab me in the trailer. I mean look at it, that is straight-up costume extravaganza. Not to mention the overall art direction — replete with the most gorgeous color saturation — looks fantastic.
